Our first fundraiser for our feature documentary “Borderline: Mental Healthcare in the
Balance” turned out well. This event was held at Slate Bar at 16th and South Van Ness
on August 16th. We raised funds by having a raffle for some really nice prizes, online
donations through our Asian Mainstream Productions web-site and a cash box at the
door. Slate Bar was really accommodating and added 10% of the bar tab to our night!!DJs Blondie K and SubOctave, courtesy of Stefanie Hoffman played the greatest tunes
to dance to—-music that was a mixture of Old School and new favorites! We also
had speakers in the form of Stefanie, Anne Fischer from Nami California , Alexandra
Hass from UCSF, MFT, Dr. Kile Ortiga, and Social Worker, Eugene Canotal.

We raised close to $1,000 that night and are looking for more! This film is really
important and relevant to what is happening in today’s society. The topic of Mental
Health comes up a lot these days in the forms of Psychology, Sociology, and Social
Justice. The purpose of this film is to help rid stigma that still exists in some cultures
and to open up the conversation for relatable services and treatment.

We have created a suggested “level of donation” list to keep the funds flowing. These
are only suggested donations. All donations of any denomination are welcome.
